First Read - Jokester Colbert goes to Washington

So I thought that this was a joke. Kind of like an April fools joke made all the better because it's not April 1st. But no, it appears that this is serious (at least sort of). Is there any wonder why most of America doesn't trust Congress and the government in general? This is a real issue that needs to be discussed and there needs to be a serious resolution. Granted, having him there brought more publicity to the hearing, but is that really the kind of publicity that *should* be there? Doesn't it make the whole hearing into a bit of a farce? Who's going to believe anyone elses testimony after he goes? And who's going to believe that any kind of a decision that comes out of it? Perhaps they figured that nobody takes them seriously anyways, so why not at least have something amusing happen. I guess this just goes to show how far the government has truly fallen. They don't even take what they do seriously any longer, so why should we?

Yet again, this is why we need term limits so that the people who are there take it seriously.
